Waqas Hassan – President
Waqas is the President of Internet Society Pakistan Islamabad Chapter. He has been an active volunteer for the IG community of Pakistan, mainly in the field of capacity development, innovative education solutions and multi-stakeholder participation. He is also the Assistant Director (International Liaison & Training) at the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, with regulatory experience of over 14 years that includes international coordination, stakeholder engagement, ICT development analysis, ICT indicators review, Internet Governance, mobile money and civil society engagement.
Waqas volunteers for the Asia-Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) MSG after being selected as APrIGF fellow in 2017. He is also a member of the drafting committee and Programme committee for APrIGF. Waqas is also a DIPLO, APSIG2017 & 2018 fellow, ISOC’s SANOG fellow, ISOC chapter fellow to ICANN60 and LIRNEasia’s Young Scholar on ICT Policy and Research. He is also a member of the steering committee for Pakistan School on Internet Governance and Pakistan Internet Governance Forum. He has collaborated with various international organizations to hold ICT events and foreign training opportunities for the PTA officers. He has also documented the national and regional ICT Policy developments for various publications and analytical reports. He also contributes as a member of various Internet and telecom expert groups such as ITU’s Expert Group on ICT Household Indictors and ITU’s Expert Group on Telecommunication and ICT Indicator. He has been a key member of IG capacity building events in Pakistan such as Mobile App Awards, National Broadband Forum, INET Islamabad, Pakistan Digital forum, Disaster Management using ICTs, Mobile App Awards, ICT Indicators Symposium. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration as well as Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Technology from Curtin University, Australia.
Sidra Jalil – Vice President
is a Technology, Marketing and Research Enthusiast with diverse 12 years of experience in Technology and Development Sector related to Research, Communications, Digital Marketing and Innovation particularly Governance and Commercialization. She has been part of the Entrepreneurial ecosystem for over 8 years now, currently working with Code for Pakistan and volunteering for OPEN Islamabad and Internet Society, Islamabad Chapter as their Vice President where she organizes workshops, Special Interest Group around startup problems, networking events, motivational talks and forums to address startup and community issues. She is also the first and only female Ambassador of AngelHack in Pakistan. She is a blogger, internet marketer, motivational speaker and an active person with a strong passion to give back to community.
Engr. Muhammad Farhan Khan – General Secretary
is the General Secretary of Internet Society Pakistan Islamabad Chapter. He is currently working as Assistant Divisional Engineer (Network Planning and Development) At National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), Ministry Of IT & Telecommunication, Government Of Pakistan. He has over 8 Year Of Industrial And Research Experience in Telecommunications in Public And Private Sector. Previously he has served as Assistant Manager at Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), Researcher at Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad, Pakistan and Research Officer at Centre for Intelligent Signal and Imaging Research (CISIR), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia.
He has authored 14+ International Scientific Publications. He is a member of Pakistan Engineering council, IEEE and Board of Studies / Advisory board, HITEC University-Taxila Cantt, Pakistan
He has been a key member of ICT events in Pakistan such as Multi-stakeholder consultation session on the data protection regime in Pakistan, International Symposium on Wireless Systems and Networks, workshop on Printed Circuit Board (PCB), International Islamic University. He has Delivered talk on Innovation in Final year projects, Bahria University, ICTs Capacity Enhancement Program for Women Entrepreneurs in Pakistan: Addressing Gender and Digital Divide through ICTs, Fatima Jinnah Women University and Participated as Mentor in SDG Hackathon – Co-organized by Code for Pakistan.
He is currently pursuing PhD in Telecom Engineering and holds a Master’s Degree in Telecom Engineering as well as Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering. He was awarded a Gold medal in SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING DESIGN EXHIBITION(SEDEX), UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS, Malaysia.
Muhammad Adil Ali -Treasurer
joined the office in February, 2018 as Treasurer, ISOC Pakistan Islamabad Chapter . He has been associated with the chapter since long. He is serving in Fauji Fertilizer Company as Executive – Information Systems. He is a PhD Scholar and certified in different Microsoft, Cisco, SAP and Information Security Domains. He is also representing ISOC Pakistan Islamabad Chapter as Secretariat of Pakistan School on Internet Governance.
